This is the first iteration of Zeiss’s line of planetarium projectors. Designed and modeled in C4D.

Where it came from

The Zeiss projector was modeled as part of a larger self-directed research project that first began during an MFA.

What it is

This research explores the use and impact of a 17th century piece of maths on modern digital technology. The Zeiss projector is a precursor to analog computers, that would later utilize this piece of maths in the development of early motion graphics.

How it was made

Over the course of a year, I learnt the best practices of polygonal and hard edge modeling in C4D, using the components of the Zeiss projector as a way to learn and apply these principles.
